WHAT DOES 'EARLY BETA' MEAN?
Some of you may have noticed the 'What's Up?' section in the upper left corner of our header, and the note within that says we are currently in 'Early Beta'.
This means that the current version of the forum is very surface level and member-driven.
Surface Level
The world is new. It came directly from my brain and manifested itself like a virtual seed in an ENORMOUS forest known as the roleplay multiverse. Anything you see is just the bare essentials. It's difficult to introduce an entire mythos to a community of new members looking to hash out a character and jump in within 10 minutes of finding the place.
Member-driven
Not a lot CAN happen in a new world, especially when members are just getting used to things I've already spoken of enough times to find familiar. It's difficult to remember most people are just trying to remember the prerequisite knowledge when I've had these ideas running around in my head for months. They are familiar to me. So, in this early form, Minute Chances is relying on the members to push it forward. I can only introduce so many plots and characters to set an example; I need members to learn about the place through their own exploration. To keep that sense of a 'new world,' it's important to have characters filling it out that AREN'T created by someone who knows all about it.
WHAT WILL CHANGE WITH FULL RELEASE?
I expect full release to come about around the ten active member mark. That would be a great milestone to reach before deciding we're a fully functional, stable world. Right now, I still have to consider the implications of my original creations. I'm still finding holes in stuff I've been stewing over for months, and though I don't expect that to ever change, I'd like to be able to present this place at its best.
What will change? I'm not really sure. I originally called the current state of the board 'Early Beta' because I intended to release a stat system that would set the foundation for the full release. This period of time was going to be a chance for people to test the world and get a kickstarter plot going so that new members aren't having to just guess at what is possible and create characters cautiously. I wanted people to feel around first and stats would over-complicate that.
I have no idea about the future of the stat system, but I do plan on expanding the story in a big way for the full release. Possibly the addition of an important system that would add another level of structure (in place of a numerical system, like statistics) but who knows? Stick around and see. I only know that this place is constantly changing, both aesthetically and content-wise, and to say what you see is what you get at this stage would be a lie. We'll be bigger and better the more characters we have to fill out the world and give it a sense of realism.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE?
If you are currently a member around the time this thread appeared, you're a beta tester! An original! A first gen. member! If you stick around long enough, your characters will be the closest thing this world has to canon! So, of course I want your input; your helping shape the world I created, after all. You probably have questions and suggestions. Especially considering some of you have had to change integral parts about your OCs to match the somewhat restrictive guidelines of my world.
What do you want? I mean, seriously. What do you want out of this world? MC is in its infancy... If there's something you've been burning to ask to be added, what would it be? When you joined, you might have thought 'If only ____ were available...' Now is the time to put your own penny in the fountain, to make this place more appealing to you and others like you. I can't promise I can meet every request, but I will fairly consider all suggestions.
What would you bring to Gaia's Wake, if you were its creator? All early betas members are technically co-creators, after all. Respond below with your suggestions and/or questions.
