How to Tame
Creatures are basically their own character, with the exception of three things:
- They do not fall under a Virtue, but are instead classified by three attributes all characters have (STR, MPOW, DEX, and SKI)
- The actions of creatures take up the actions of characters. Because only one action is allowed per turn, if a creature takes an action, the character cannot, and vice versa.
- Creatures do not use YP, even when dealing MDMG.
Similar to a character:
- The player controls them entirely.
- Upon level up, all creatures are given 5 points, which the player can freely allocate between the 4 attributes.
Acquiring Your First Creature (and afterward)
As a Patientia beginning with the Tamer skill, you are allowed to create one creature of your choice (following the guidelines of the Virtue Code found on the Patientia page) The creature must be Brone rank, and reasonable in description for the rank. A unique appearance is fine, but it shouldn't be Godly or enormous.
If your creature's HP drops to 0 at any time, and you permit it's death, you will be allowed to find one in the wild at anytime, by completing a quest. You can hunt for any rank, but the difficulty of the quest will increase with the rank of the creature.
This is done by posting in your Tracker, saying that you'd like a new beastkind. Tag a staff member using @ and then their username. For example, to tag me, use @ and then the word 'admin'. This will open up a communication discussing what kind of beastkind you would like.
If you are a non-Patientia who has just put a Skill Point into Taming, follow the above process to obtain your creature.
The same goes for when you reach Rank 7 in taming, and have the ability to have two tamed creatures. You will need to hunt for one in a quest using the aforementioned method of posting in your Tracker.
New beastkind must always start at level 1.
Creature Classes

Creature Rankings & Growth
In addition to every creature being placed under a certain class, all creatures are judged by their ranking. This ranking is similar to the Crafting system's qualities; the ranking determines the damage range of the creature.
GROWTH: A creature's ranking is not set in stone. By purchasing Creature Eggs at the Blacksmith (the shop), a character can exalt their creature to a higher ranking.
The rankings are further split into two categories:
- Combat-type creatures, which are best in combat, giving them higher damage ranges, but fewer options for skill boosts.
- Support-type creatures, which are best out of combat, giving them lower damage ranges, but more options for skill boosts.
**DAMAGE RANGE: Each ranking is given a damage range, which only states the limits on what a creature's damage range can be. The creature's actual damage range will be picked from between the two numbers stated, on a case-by-case basis.
**SKILL BOOST: Creatures of varying rankings can bestow a boost to any of their tamer's skill, raising it by one Combat-types require the character already have a rank in said skill, to boost it. Support-types do not.

Inheritance
Each rank in the Inheritance skill gives the a character fraction of your creatures' stats. The ranks alternate between offering a fraction of the creature's highest attribute and offering a fraction of the creature's highest and second. If the creature has multiple equal highest values, the player chooses which attribute to take the bonus from. If the creature has multiple equal second highest values, the same rule applies.
For example, rank 1 gives a character 1/5 of their creature's highest attribute. If you have an STR-type creature, at level 1, their highest attribute is STR, at 12. So the character would receive 1/5 of 12, which equals 2.4. We round down, giving the character 2 points in STR.
In rank 2, the character receives 1/5 in the top two attributes. If you have a STR-type creature at level 1, their highest attribute is STR, at 12, and they have no second highest, so you would choose from the other attributes (which are all 10 at level 1). The character would get a bonus of 2 from STR, and a 2 from MPOW, DEX, or SKI, depending on what you chose.
When bridging the gap from a rank that offers a bonus for the highest and second highest to a rank that only offers a highest, you keep the second highest attribute bonus of the previous rank.
For example, when moving from Rank 2 to Rank 3, the character receives 1/4 of the highest rank as a bonus, but keeps 1/5 of the second highest (following the rules of rank 2)
Note: Upon gaining a rank in Inheritance, the attribute bonuses from your creature are locked in. This means that even if your creature's attributes change, such as by leveling, the bonus remains the same until you gain unlock a new rank.
