What are NPCs?
NPC usually translates to "Non-Player Character." At Minute Chances, the acronym NPC is a bit of a misnomer. Any player can create and play as an NPC under the same conditions as they would a main character, but NPC Profiles use a small application, which requires less thought and allows the character to be more stock then dynamic (unimportant, stereotypical versus well-rounded, able to develop)
So, why would anyone make an NPC Profile when they can flesh out their character in a regular character application?
You can ALWAYS play NPCs in your regular threads, but you might want to create a profile for them so others know who they are, especially if the NPC is going to be affecting them in a plot! Here are the types of NPCs and what they are used for.
- Person of Importance: Used to establish the importance of certain figures involved in a character's personal life/storyline. These types of characters are usually only used in conjunction with the central character they are involved with, and aren't going to stay around long, at least not in the same capacity, though they can play a pivotal role and therefore could use an application as means of acknowledging their capabilities.
- Event/Plot Character: This type of character is used for the purpose of events, and may turn into a legitimate character. Normally, only staff play event NPCs, so only consider this type if you have been confronted about it directly.
NPC APPLICATION
*YOU CAN USE A FULL APPLICATION TO CREATE AN NPC PROFILE, IF YOU SO CHOOSE*
Fill out the form below and submit it in it's own thread.
Alias: [What does their character go by?]
Virtue: [Choose a Virtue, if it matters. If not, such as in the case of an Adoptable (in which case you would like the adoptee to decide), specify 'N/A.']
Descriptive Blurb: [In a paragraph or less, give a general description of the character, their relationships, and their background.]
Location: [Where is the character, currently?]
