STORE FRONT STRIKE
A group of disgruntled Miracle citizens and uninvolved passersby
With the recent skyrocketing of prices in the Shopping District, many Miracle citizens find themselves unable to afford basic goods and services. Stable pricing has never been a forte of the First City, as most of its inhabitants are greedy opportunists looking for control in an uncontrollable world, but after three years, there has been no steady form of income for any citizen. The only places that now hold valuable pre-Fall artifacts have been deemed a 'Danger Zone' by the MCC, presumably to provide a financial foundation for the future of Miracle as they reap the bounty themselves with the help of an armed militia. Most call that poppycock, and have gathered in front of the Miracle's many goods-and-services establishments to demand lower prices, in lieu of optimal organized resistance against Miracle's government.
"Lower prices, we've all got vices! Lower prices, we've all got vices!" The chant rang throughout the shallow thruway that had come to be known as Miracle's Shopping District. Though some establishments have laid claim to actual buildings -pre-Fall stores - to sell their wares, the most profitable business can be found under the torn off-white sheets of ramshackle stands that line the sidewalks. Store owners call over the crowd their usual high prices in any attempt to garner wages from those too poor or too intelligent to join the bandwagon of infuriated citizens. A mother and her child make their way cautiously down each row, hoping to avoid the eyes of an angry boycotter holding a makeshift picket sign. Just as they had managed to secure something of a discount from a more forgiving man selling purified water, a few larger men bullied the store owner from his stand and toppled it to the ground, using what looked like a baseball bat they had poorly hammered a sign onto.
In their excitement, they managed to knock the child over as well as send the mother's water tumbling to the ground in a splash of sparkling waste. She pulled her child close to her as he cried, hoping that this day would pass without any further trauma. The people certainly had a purpose to be gallivanting through the shopping district and demanding lower prices, but those who refused to partake in their somewhat unruly methods were not left without reason either. Once more, humanity pits man against man in the effort to survive, all the while making the struggling ever more futile.
